Manufacturing engineering is a broad technical and technological field that essentially symbolizes the mechanical profession. It generally encompasses knowledge from various scientific disciplines that enable the transformation of the starting workpiece (material) into a final product of a certain use value. The Production Engineering module trains highly skilled personnel to work in diverse and changing industrial environments. After graduating, Production Engineering engineers are able to upgrade and adapt their knowledge in accordance with the requirements of the global market.

The development of production engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in East Sarajevo ran parallel to the development of the Faculty. Namely, the first students who enrolled in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in the 1994/95 academic year studied according to the curriculum and program of the Production Department, majoring in Production Engineering.Later, there were innovations in curricula and programs in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Declaration. However, a significant number of subjects that were scientifically and professionally relevant to the Department of Production Engineering always found their place in the study programs. By switching to the Mechanical Engineering study program with modules for the 2013/14 academic year, Production Engineering receives new impulses for development, which are largely manifested in the equipping of existing, but also the formation of new Laboratories. Production Engineering today represents one of the pillars of the development of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in East Sarajevo.
